Immunomodulatory Activity

Studies suggest that Shatavari stimulates the pituitary gland and ACTH, resulting in the secretion of prolactin, which is essential for the synthesis of milk in the mammary glads. It is also believed to exert a strong anti-oxytocin effect, thereby strengthening prolactin levels for lactogenesis.

Another proposed mechanism of action is related to phyto estrogens. It is thought that phyto estrogen molecules in Shatavari act upon pituitary lactotrophic cells and mammary epithelial cells to increase the secretion of prolactin.

Lastly, Shatavari contains steroidal saponins, which have been scientifically recognized approved for its galactogogue action.4
